DNA extraction filter
DNA & Fujifilm Extracting DNA
All you need to do is pass blood or saliva through this.*
This filter can extract DNA in just six minutes.
In the past, researchers and lab technicians spent a considerable amount of time conducting multiple extraction processes.
Fujifilm's life science technologies support research for
human life and safety, such as that used in cutting-edge
medicine and food DNA testing.

1.Previously, DNA extraction was time- and labor-intensive. Now it takes just six minutes !
Before DNA testing can be conducted, a blood sample must be
processed to isolate the DNA.
However, because conventional DNA extraction required
several stages of repeated manual procedures such as
precipitation, centrifugation, and cleansing, university
researchers and testing facility technicians found it
burdensome.
It took a technician 60 minutes to extract DNA. However…
With the automated nucleic acid isolation system
(QuickGene-810), Fujifilm made it possible to complete
DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) isolation in just six minutes *
and RNA (ribonucleic acid) isolation in just 13 minutes.
* excludes pre-processing time; for whole blood samples

2.Catches DNA just by filtering blood; a porous membrane filter.
To extract, simply place a sample, such as blood *, in
QuickGene-810.
DNA is automatically isolated with Fujifilm's unique porous
membrane filter technology.
If the DNA isolation is from blood (whole blood), 80 samples
can be processed in about an hour. Researchers are free to
pursue other projects.

3.An era of mass DNA testing; supporting many fields such as medicine and food
DNA testing is now prevalent in many fields;
medicine, life sciences, food, agriculture, livestock
farming, criminal investigation, and identification
checks.
Through automated DNA isolation procedures,
Fujifilm provides fast, efficient and stable DNA
testing.

4.Photographic film technology finally breaks into the DNA field
This adsorptive filter technology (porous membrane)
originated from a material that is the base for
photographic film (TAC film).
The seemingly separate fields of "photographic film" and
"DNA" have joined together through the creativity and
technical capabilities of Fujifilm researchers.

5.You may have actually encountered this technology in a health checkup!
Fujifilm also supports medical facilities throughout Japan with this filter technology; it is used in the blood biochemistry analyzer (Fuji DRI-CHEM) that you're familiar with from health check-ups.
This filter technology is quite versatile.
It also played a part in the birth of draft beer in Japan.
