Breast Cancer & Fujifilm Fighting breast cancer
In the first stage of breast cancer, there is only a very small
lesion.
Fujifilm has developed a digital mammography system that
can catch micro-calcifications, evidence that is difficult to
detect through visual examination and palpation, to support
the early detection of breast cancer.
Fujifilm's digital x-ray imaging technology identifies
abnormal changes in women's breasts.
1.Early detection of initial cancer digital mammography
X-ray photography of the breasts is called mammography.
In the early stages of breast cancer, some cells become calcified.
With the Fuji Computed Radiography (FCR) system,
high-resolution x-ray diagnostic images are generated for
mammography examination.
Even micro-calcifications are detectable.

2.Easier to see! Easier to f ind! Digital imaging technology
The f low of FCR
Mammography is said to be an examination that
women generally dislike. This is why it is important
to obtain a high-quality diagnostic image on the first
attempt.
FCR uses cutting-edge digital technology for image
analysis that makes breast cancer
(micro-calcifications, etc.) easier to detect.
This offers consistently stable and high-resolution
x-ray diagnostic images to doctors and patients.

3.Mammography examination rates:Approximately 70% in the US*1 Only approximately 18% in Japan*2
The number of breast cancer patients grows every year.
Since 1996, breast cancer has been the type of cancer that
a woman is most likely to contract.
Yet, the rate of screenings in Japan is still way too low.

4.We support the Pink Ribbon campaign.
The Pink Ribbon campaign was launched in the 1980s
through the joint efforts of the government, companies, and civic groups in the US to raise awareness for the early
detection and treatment of breast cancer.
This campaign was successful in the US, boosting the rate
of mammography screening among women in their 40s to
60% and also decreasing mortality rates. Fujifilm supports
the Pink Ribbon campaign to raise awareness for breast
cancer examination.
Fujifilm has cosponsored the Pink Ribbon Smile Walk in
Japan, one of the many activities the Pink Ribbon
campaign sponsors to increase breast cancer awareness.
