Blocking deep UVA rays

Fujifilm has developed the ultraviolet ray protection agent “D-UV Guard,” the first in the world* that is capable of blocking skin-damaging deep UVA rays by 90% or more.

*D-UV Guard blocks over 90% of long wavelength UVA(370–400 nm), more than any other UV ray absorber for cosmetics in 2011.

1.Deep UVA rays may be the cause of finding yourself colored by the sun.

The UV rays that cause skin coloring are categorized according to wavelength. Fujifilm calls the UV rays with the longest wavelength “deep UVA rays.”
Deep UVA rays cannot be sufficiently blocked with existing UV protection measures. Even if you used a parasol or stayed in the shade, you sometimes find yourself colored by the sun.

2.The first in the world to successfully visualize deep UVA rays.

Fujifilm used its proprietary image analysis technology to be the first in the world to successfully visualize deep UVA rays.
Deep UVA rays penetrate glass to enter even cars and buildings. They pass through the horny layer and epidermis to damage the collagen in the dermis, causing spots, sagging, and dullness.

3.“D-UV Guard,”the first* ultraviolet ray protection agent in the world to protect skin from deep UVA rays.

Fujifilm's “D-UV Guard” is the world's first* product to effectively protect the skin from the damaging effects of deep UVA rays. UV ray protection agents are conventionally made by blending a UV ray absorption agent with a scattering agent that repels UV rays. With the newly developed D-UV Guard, we created hybrid particles by bonding these absorption agent and scattering agent molecules. This made it possible to block 90% of deep UVA rays or more.
